It is absolutely shocking what some dog food packagers are putting into their products.
Did you know that a healthy dog can live for over 20 years? But here in the USA the average life-expectancy is 11-13 years! Many Vets claim this is due to what we feed our dogs.
It recently came to my attention through a shocking video that one major city on the West Coast delivers dead dogs and cats to a rendering plant. No…these poor creatures aren't cremated –their bodies become the protein-source in commercial dog food.
The video I saw should be labeled "For Adults Only," so don't look at it when your kids are around. This video details the disgusting manufacturing processes some dog food makers are using—including the source of the crap they use in their bags and cans.
Proper nutrition is the basis for a long, healthy life—in us humans as well as in our pets. But quite often what we are getting for our canine friends may be the remains of euthanized animals of all sorts. The drug used to "put down" these hapless creatures is sodium pentobaribitol, and traces have been found in processed commercial products.
Our government,God bless them, require manufacturers of human pre-packaged foods to list the contents on the labels of their products. But the pet food industry isn't regulated in the same fashion. I read the label from a leading dog food supplier and it listed poultry liver and beef byproducts. (What is a beef byproduct?) This was followed by more than a dozen chemicals—mostly preservatives.
